A person might get into a crucial situation pertaining to financial crisis; and during such a situation personal grants can be very comforting to him. There are many varieties of personal grants to meet a variety of personal requirements of a person. Personal grants can be provided on an emergency situation for a short term period or even provided for a long term period on a structured basis. Currently there are nearly five thousand private funding programs that offer personal grants and there are also many personal grants provided by government specifically catering to the needs of seniors, veterans, disabled and the needy people.

Preliminary research and studies have revealed the fact that almost all the personal needs of a person can be covered by some or the other way with the help of various personal grants available. There are so many types of personal grants that it would be hard to list every one of them, but some are given below:

Personal grants can be availed for housing assistance, for making mortgage payments, for paying rent, for repairing the home, for paying utility bills, for public transportation, for child care, for day care, for legal services, for general living costs, for purchasing house, for paying medical bills, for purchasing groceries, for buying car for disabled persons, for buying clothes, for purchasing fuel, for paying tuition fees, for summer camps, for extracurricular activities, for paying real estate taxes, for school supplies and so on.

Persons who do not posses any job or are out of job or who do part time work but unable to earn sufficient income to cover his basic expenses or those are ill come under the category of needy persons. Normally a US citizen or resident is entitled to get a free personal grant from government. The amount ranges from five thousand US dollars to four hundred and fifty thousand US dollars. It should not be thought that personal grants are only meant for the US citizens as they are also available for particular religious persons such as Hispanics, underemployed, and unemployed, minority groups and so on. Private trusts too provide nearly seventeen billion US dollars every year in the form of personal grants to needy persons. Private organizations are required to spend nearly five percent of their income every year so that they can get the tax exemption status.

Even though many kinds and varieties of personal grants are available, not much people know about the existence of such programs and many people do not try to avail them fearing that they might not get the personal grants easily. Some do not apply due to embarrassment that getting personal grants might be considered as a sign of failure. Others might be under the misconception that personal grants might involve more red tape or they might not know if they are eligible to get one or not.
